Saint Paul Lights

Note to self: stop relying on Mapquest and Google Maps. Driving to the Science Museum in Saint Paul was quite the adventure. We were never lost, perhaps in the wrong place and with bad directions, but never lost. We had a good time, despite driving through the ghetto of Minneapolis, and some other sketchy places. The last picture is my favorite. It's been rainy/drizzly for the past few weeks, and the reflection turned out great!

On to knitting: two FO, scarves. Pictures to follow, over Spring break. (Lucky duck, me, going home a day early, thanks to an impossible-to-reschedule appointment.) I've started two new scarves, Caron Simply Soft eco in Ocean. I will also work on my scarlet-and-cream scarf, a coffee cup sleeve in ocean, and armwarmers.

This one is finally finished! It's almost two skeins of yarn, and I'm so glad it's done!
Row 1: k5 p5 k5
Row 2: p5 k5 p5
Row 3: same as row 1
Row 4: same as row 2
continue until row 10, switch to p5 k5 p5.

This one is for my mom, I think. Just a simple k2p2 pattern.

I'm quite excited about Spring break! It will be quite nice not to have classes for a week. In five years, or whenever I finish my formal education (!), I'm going to miss all these breaks that colleges provide. The real world with a steady job (and no breaks) will be quite the adjustment, I'm sure.

Blessings!

I forget (how beautiful the world is)

I'm watching the sun glide down into the west this evening. The clouds are tinged with a beautiful orange-gold glow, and the sun itself is a ball of fire. The trees are black, merely twigs poking into the palest blue of skies. It's a beautiful evening, a tad too cold, but this is Minnesota.

I'm ready
...for the spring, for new life, for green grass beneath my feet, for trees full of verdure, for flowers popping out of earthy dirt, for puffy spring clouds, for driving with windows rolled down, for warm days and cool nights, for muddy soccer games.

I'm ready
...for the summer, for the heat, for the humidity and sticky sweat, for t-shirts and flip-flops, for laying out in the sun, for swimming, for iced caramel macchiatos, for times with the gang: Guitar Hero, picnics at Lake Manawa; for hanging out with my brothers, for chasing Molly the WonderDog, for coffee with my daddy, and scrapbooking with my mommy.

I'm ready
...for the fall, for the coolness, for highschool football games, for popcorn and M&M's mixed together, for Vala's Pumpkin Patch, for Husker football parties, for golden leaves falling off trees in the windy weather.

I'm ready for any season except winter, which is my least favorite, but I will choose to be grateful for the winter. Without the winter, we would not have the beauty of delicate snowflakes, or the beauty of black trees cloaked in white. Each season has something beautiful about it, but I forget about the beauty, and choose to see the negative aspects.

I'm thankful for spring, for summer, for fall, for winter. What a wonderful metaphor we have for our own lives.

Right now I'm in the winter of life. Where are you at?
